The information that makes early software discussions faster, clearer and more useful.

Describe the current process

Explain how work starts, who is involved, where information comes from, which approvals happen and how the process ends.

Show the real artefacts

Forms, spreadsheets, sample documents, screenshots and reports are usually more useful than abstract requirements. They reveal the actual information and decisions in the process.

Identify the pain points

Be specific about delays, duplicate capture, missing information, lack of visibility, manual reporting or integration problems.

Define success

A useful project outcome might be reducing capture, getting approval visibility, giving customers self-service access, integrating two systems or creating reliable reporting.

Agree on a first boundary

The first phase should be small enough to define and test properly. A contained workflow or module often produces better results than trying to specify the entire future platform at once.
